InstaPit: A designated area for Instagrammers to take photos of runway shows. Think lots of bloggers staring up with their phones. It’s a thing. Just in time for Fashion Week. Special Area for Instagrammers to share their photos live.
Instagram is considered the single most important social network.
Forrester named Instagram the “king of social engagement,” citing the fact that top brands’ Instagram posts generated a per-follower engagement rate of 4.21 percent. That means Instagram delivered these brands 58 times more engagement per follower than Facebook, and 120 times more engagement per follower than Twitter..
$600 investment with influential instagrammers to make over $9,000 in profit. Aske influencers to participate and they place a link to offer in profile to drive leads and/or sales. No exact numbers on how the $600 was distributed, but participants had a sizeable following, apparently about 100K followers or more.
Live streaming (both event and individual/social) will join video on demand (VOD) as a key focus for media companies. Live social network YouNow, a favorite with the younger crowd, raised $15M in October 2015 and is one to watch. Twitter also acquired Periscope in 2015 for $100M – is Meerkat next? Or will it be Blab.IM?
Twitter introduces GIF search for iOS, Android & web; when composing tweet or DM, users can search for GIF by keyword or browse categorized gallery, powered by GIPHY& Riffsy; rolling out globally over next few weeks.
Facebook to open Instant Articles to all publishers, of any size, on Apr 12; lets publishers host content directly on Facebook, rather than redirecting users to another site; publishers control the look, data & ads, keep 100% ad revenue when using their own direct-sold spots. Is SnapChat on the verge of its “Facebook Moment?”
According to SmarBrief on Social Business, Snapchat is upping it’s ad game as the user base grows. Total number of users greater than 100M, reports they are developing an API for advertisers and better targeting within the Discover channels.
Agree or Disagree?
Digital advertising is becoming a rather simple proposition: Facebook, Google, or don’t bother?

Peter: I would disagree on that one. I spend quite a bunch on money but I don’t use it on google or facebook. I use revcontent and traffic. Spent $7,000 today on Revcontent.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company will appeal a California judge’s order to unlock an iPhone belonging to one of the terrorists involved in the San Bernardino shooting. Following the request, Cook argued, would “threaten the security of our customers.
